26.10.2015 Fundraising. Mil-spec Raingear for Lesvos refugees.

mil-spec-rain-jacketWe have reserved a batch of 500 military rain jackets (as pictured here) ready to be shipped from Poland to Lesvos.

  • They are large (to cover a person with a backpack and even a baby carried in front).
  • They are of good quality and will last at least the whole trip from Greece to Norway, if needed.
  • They are lightweight — one weights not more than 500 g.

The whole batch costs 1600 Euro and this is the money we need to raise. If we manage, within 10 days the shipment will reach Lesvos Volunteers and will be distributed among refugees. And we will start raising money for the next batch.

The money should be sent to Polish social cooperative “Spółdzielnia Socjalna Faktoria” (their official national registry data: faktoria-national-registry). Preferably via Paypal (sps.faktoria@interia.eu) or bank transfer for

Thanks to Suzanne U. we have 1000 Euro already raised. Now, 600 more, and we are done!

  2. Petros says:

We were notified about the missing 600 E being just wired. So hold your transfers for now. As soon as we have this batch shipped, I will try to fix another purchase and let you know.

  3. Petros says:

We have received the closing transfer and sent the purchase order (and payment) already.

Favourable currency conversion rate and some last minute haggling brought us an extra discount, so for the next batch (to be announced soon) we have 385 Euro roll-over!
    Now, the plan is:
    1. We shall have the parcel sent to Thessaloniki. Stay tuned for the tracking number.
    2. As we have it here, we shall forward it (for free, thanks to Anastasia G.) to Lesvos.

Immediately after we have this batch shipped from Poland, we will open another batch. So, stay with us!

The first shipment departed from Poland. It goes really slowly, so we already started looking for quicker carrier, but anyway. It is on the way!
The first leg gets to Thessaloniki, where it will be picked up by a friendly Greek company and — free of charge — delivered to Lesvos.

Now, you can track it yourself. Just go to http://www.schenker.pl/e-schenker/trackingland/trackingservice/ And follow the instruction in these two snapshots.
This is how you set up a tracking request:

And this is the current status, as I write this comment:
    See the current status.

  5. Petros says:

OK, I have confirmation from Kalloni warehouse: The shipment arrived and the jackets are already being dispensed. Robert Nielsen, who is in charge there promised to send his assessment of quality etc. so we will know if there is a sense to get more of them.
